It’s been 4 months since we were blessed with our baby boy T. Alhamdulillah, what a journey it has been! You never truly appreciate your parents until you actually become a parent yourself. All the sleepless nights (and days), worrying over every little new sound, every sneeze, every cry. Blessed to enjoy toothless smiles, drool-filled kisses, warm arms around your neck. Witnessing his first rollover, his first time grabbing his toes, his first coos! IT’S THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!
Now I truly understand the importance that Allah and the Prophet (peace be upon him) places on the obedience and honouring of our parents.
“My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small.” [ Surah Al-Isra, Verse 24]
And (God says:) “We have enjoined upon man goodness towards his parents: his mother bore him by bearing strain upon strain, and his utter dependence on her lasted two years: (hence, O man,) be grateful towards Me and towards thy parents, (and remember that) with Me is all journey’s end. [Surah Luqman, 13 :14]
And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, and do good to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) “ugh” nor chide them, but (always) speak to them reverent speech. [Surah Al – Isra’, 17:23]
May Allah bless our parents in this world and in the next with Jannah. Ameen.
